Microsoft SoftGrid Application Virtualization and Vista Enterprise Centralized Desktop

Presenter:

Microsoft

Microsoft has recently announced support for hosted desktops through Vista Enterprise Centralized Desktop (VECD) licensing as part of Software Assurance. However, simply centrally hosting desktops is only one step in creating a desktop computing utility. Application management and image ubiquity are essential in gaining economy of scale.
Microsoft SoftGrid Application Virtualization has created a new paradigm for application management for desktops, hosted desktops and terminal services alike. Windows applications are transformed into network available services, delivered on-demand and executed in a protected environment. Hosted desktop instances become generic computing points where any user may execute their applications without application pre-population or conflict.
This session will cover how Microsoft SoftGrid Application Virtualization combined with Vista Enterprise Centralized Desktop creates the most efficient infrastructure for enabling a hosted desktop solution.
