Disaster Protection of VMware Infrastructure 3 using EMC SRDFPresenter:
EMCThe virtualization of physical hardware can be used to create disaster recovery and business continuity solutions that would have otherwise been impractical. These solutions normally involve a combination of virtual infrastructure at one or more geographically separated data centers and remote replication technology.
Software-based replication technology in VMs or ESX Server console can be used to replicate virtual infrastructure data to a remote data center. However, these techniques cannot provide a business consistent disaster restart solution when a business process includes data not contained in the VI environment. Integrating VMware ESX Server and storage-array based replication products adds a level of business data protection not otherwise easily attained. Using the TimeFinder and SRDF families of products with VMware technologies enables customers to provide a cost-effective disaster restart and business continuity solution.
