VMworld attendees are a mix of IT technical professionals and IT business decision-makers from organizations of all sizes, representing a wide range of industries.


When and where will VMworld 2011 take place?
VMworld 2011 takes place August 29 - September 1, 2011, at The Venetian and The Wynn in Las Vegas, NV.

VMworld 2011 Europe takes place October 18 - October 20, 2011, at the Bella Center in Copenhagen.


What are the registration fees for the event?

Is there a registration discount if I attended a previous VMworld Conference?
Yes, alumni will receive a discounted rate of $1495, regardless of the time of your registration. You are recognized as a VMworld alumnus if you have attended at least two out of the last seven conferences (US and Europe). You will receive this discount automatically if you register with the email address you used for your last VMworld registrations.


Are there registration discounts for university students and faculty members?
Yes, the discounted student and faculty rate is $1195 for the US event, regardless of the time that you register. Discounted pricing is provided automatically if you register with a valid ".edu" email address.


Do you offer discounts to government attendees?
Yes, the discounted government rate is $1495 for the US event, regardless of the time that you register. This pricing is provided automatically if you register with a valid ".gov" or ".mil" email address.


Are non-profit discounts available?
Non-profit discounts are not offered for VMworld 2011.


Are prospective customer discounts available?
No, there are no discounts for prospective customers. If you have questions, please contact your VMware sales representative.


Are partner discounts available?
No, partners do not receive a discount.


Is a VCP discount available?
Yes, VCC/VCP4, VCAP4-DCA/DCD, VCDX3/4, VCP4-DT and VCA4-DT attendees will receive a $100 discount off the current registration price at the time of registration.


Is a VMUG discount available?
Yes, VMUG Advantage members will receive a $100 discount off the current registration price at the time of registration. To become a VMUG Advantage subscriber, visit www.vmug.com


Are One-Day passes available?
One-Day passes are not available for purchase at this time.


Are Expo Only passes available?
Expo Only passes are now available for purchase. Expo Only passes provide access to the Solutions Exchange and General Sessions only.


When will I receive confirmation of my registration?
An email confirmation will be sent to you upon completion of your registration. If you have not received this within 12 hours, please alert the registration team.


What if I need to cancel my conference registration?
  • All cancellations must be received in writing via email. The Registration Team email will be published when registration opens in early April.
  • For a full refund, cancellations must be received by close of business on June 24, 2011.
  • Cancellations received between June 24, 2011, and close of business August 5, 2011, will receive a 50% refund.
  • No refunds will be given after August 5, 2011.
  • Credit will be returned in the form payment was received i.e., payment by check will be returned in the form of a check.

Are substitutions allowed, and is there a related fee?
Substitution requests must be received via email from the original attendee requesting a cancellation of his/her registration and include the name of the person who will be taking his/her place, as well as their email address. There is no fee for substitutions.


What is Schedule Builder?
It is an online system that allows paid attendees to view a full listing of sessions, organize your days, and register for the sessions you want to attend.


What’s new with Schedule Builder?
Attendees must pre-register for sessions at VMworld 2011. Without pre-registration, you will not be given access to any breakout sessions.


Why the change in policy from 2010?
As the conference is growing in size we want to ensure you are given the best experience possible onsite at VMworld. Have the comfort of knowing your schedule ahead of time and don’t feel the stress of rushing around, waiting in lines hoping you can get in a session.


What if a session I want to attend is full?
Most sessions will be repeated at least once and we will be adding additional sessions based on popularity, so if it is full, check back.


What if I want to change my schedule?
Feel free to change your schedule as often as you would like leading up to the event by logging into VMworld.com and visit the schedule builder site. Once on-site you can add a session to your schedule up to an hour prior to the start.


Can I register for multiple sessions at one time?
No, you can only book one session during a specific time slot.


How can I register for sessions?
Once registered, conference attendees can visit the schedule builder application at www.vmworld.com by logging into their VMworld account.


Can I schedule or change sessions after arriving at VMworld?
Yes, you can add or change your schedule up to an hour prior to the start of the session on the available email stations located throughout VMworld or use the VMworld mobile application (available late August).


When can I get into the session room on-site?
Rooms will open approximately 25 minutes before the start of the session and close at the start of the session. Only attendees who have pre-registered for a session will be allowed in the room. There will be NO stand-by line, so please make sure to register for the sessions you plan on attending.


Do I need to schedule Labs?
Hands-on Labs are available on-demand at VMworld and can be taken at any time throughout the event. You can add Labs to your personal schedule, but will need to visit the Labs room at VMworld to sign-up.


Do I need to wear my badge throughout the entire VMworld 2011 conference?
Yes, please wear your conference badge to all functions, breakout sessions, labs and meetings so that you can be readily identified as a VMworld 2011 attendee. Every precaution possible is being taken to ensure a safe and secure working environment at VMworld. Please be aware that you will be asked for valid photo identification at registration before receiving a conference badge.


What meals are included in the registration fee?
Breakfast, lunch and morning and afternoon refreshments will be provided on each day of the conference. Full conference attendees are invited to the Welcome Reception on Monday, August 29, 2011, and the VMworld 2011 Party on Wednesday, August 31, 2011. If you have any special dietary requests, please be sure to inform us during the registration process.


Are guests permitted to attend?
Attendees are permitted to register one guest who is 21 years of age or older. Registered guests are permitted to attend the VMworld Welcome Reception on Monday, August 29, 2011, and the VMworld Party on Wednesday, August 31, 2011. The Guest Pass fee is $275. The Guest Pass does not include access to breakout sessions, general sessions, labs, breakfast or lunch, or any other activities that are reserved for attendees with Full Conference passes. Guest passes can be purchased during online registration or onsite at the conference registration desk.


Can I be denied registration for any reason?
VMware reserves the right to deny registration to any individual or entity for any reason, at VMware's sole discretion, including for past or present failure to meet VMware's standards of conduct (including, but not limited to, engaging in violent, illegal, threatening or discriminatory conduct).


What topics are offered in the breakout sessions and labs?
See the VMworld 2011 Content Catalog for a full listing of available breakout sessions and labs.


When and where is the VMworld 2011 Party?
The VMworld 2011 Party will take place August 31, 2011 from 7:00pm - 11:00pm. We are pleased to welcome The Killers to VMworld 2011.


What is the recommended attire for VMworld attendees?
Business casual attire is appropriate for attending sessions and labs. Casual attire is recommended for the VMworld 2011 Party.


Can I get copies of the material presented at the conference?
Yes, the presentations will be posted soon after VMworld 2011.


What is the common language spoken at VMworld 2011?
The official language of the conference is English, and all general sessions, breakout sessions and labs will be presented in English. Translation services will not be provided. If you elect to bring your own translator, please contact the registration support team.


Will Internet stations be available?
Yes, Internet stations will be provided along with Wi-Fi hot spots throughout the conference facility for paid attendees.


Do I need to contact the hotel to book my reservation?
No, when you register online for VMworld 2011, you will have an opportunity to request your hotel, check-in and check-out dates, and provide your credit card information. A hotel reservation will be made for you and guaranteed with your credit card.


Do I need to give a credit card to reserve my hotel room?
Yes, a credit card will be needed to confirm your reservation at a designated VMworld 2011 hotel. The hotel will charge a deposit of one night's room and tax to guarantee your reservation.


What time is check-in and check-out at the hotels reserved for VMworld?
Standard hotel check-in time is 3:00 pm and check-out time is 11:00 am, but these times may vary depending on the hotel you choose.


If I am not registered for VMworld 2011, how do I book my hotel room?
To take advantage of VMworld's discounted room rates, you must be registered for VMworld 2011.


Is transportation provided from the airport to the hotel?
No, transportation is not provided from the airport to the hotel. Please check the travel section of www.vmworld.com for information on various transportation options.


Which hotels offer smoking rooms?
Smoking rooms cannot be guaranteed, and are only available upon request.


Do I need a visa to attend the conference?
There are a few countries that require a visa for entry. We recommend checking in advance with your country's local US consulate.


In order to request a visa letter from the VMworld team, please be prepared to provide the following information:
  • Name
  • Passport Number
  • Country of Origin
  • Passport Expiration Date
  • Date Registered for Event

We can only issue visa letters for fully paid attendees.


Where do I pick up my badge?
Please pick up your badge at the VMworld 2011 registration desk during open registration hours. For security purposes, be prepared to show identification.


Is there an age minimum for VMworld?
You must be at least 18 years of age to attend the conference and expo. You must be 21 or older to attend the evening functions.


What is included in my registration fee?
Your registration fee for a full conference pass entitles you to the following:

  • VMworld 2011 Party
  • Solutions Exchange

Is there a deadline for registration?
No. You can register through the last day of the conference.

US event: beginning August 28, you will be required to register onsite. Please note that the onsite registration fee is $2195.


What payments do you accept for VMworld 2011 registration?
When registering, you may only pay by credit card.


Will transportation be provided for VMworld 2011?
Yes, there will be shuttle service for the conference between The Venetian and The Wynn.


How can I change or update my email address on www.vmworld.com?
Log in to www.vmworld.com, and then click Manage Account > Edit User Profile. Edit your email address on your vmworld.com account.


How can I register for both VMworld Las Vegas and Copenhagen?
Registration for each event is separate, and you will need to register and pay for each event independently.
