After a great experience running live TV shows from the VMworld Community Lounge, we will open up the VMware Community TV to our friends in Copenhagen as well.

I have just set up the schedule page at vmware.com/go/vmworld-community-tv

Every day of the show, we will be broadcasting from 10:30 to 16:00 on a live streaming channel at livestream.com/vmwarecommunitytv.

Just like in Vegas, we will have a video streaming station set up which you can book and use to broadcast your session live on VMware Community TV.

If you are interested in doing a live podcast using our setup, you can book a slot, and use it to interview guests, offer some commentary, or a live technology demonstration.

If you would like to use our audio and video equipment to record your content for offline use, you can book that as well outside of VMware Community TV hours, on a first-come, first-served availability basis.

When requesting a slot in our streaming station, please let us know what topics you plan to cover and whether you will have any guests during your show. Since we are at VMworld, the topics should be related -- cloud, virtualization, VMUGs, vExpert talks, or other VMware-related areas.

Each segments should be 20-30 minutes long and start on the half-hour. The podcasting station is self-serve, but we will have some technical assistance available.

If the schedule becomes oversubscribed, John and I will give Community content first priority in scheduling, but exhbitiors with community-oriented topics are also encouraged to book a slot.

We will do our best to accommodate your schedule, but can't guarantee that we can give you the time slot you want. To help us with that, please submit several time slot suggestions or ranges to pick from.

Approximate broadcast times: Monday-Thurs 10:30-2:30.

      Podcasting at VMworld 2008

We are doing something new at VMworld this year, something that will put you, our community podcasters, in the limelight.

For the week of the show we will be broadcasting four or more hours daily of live streaming video on the "VMware Community TV" channel. This new channel is in addition to the "VMworld TV" video features and "VMworld Live with the Cube" industry interviews we've created in previous years. We're producing a few hours of programming, but we'd like to open up the channel to YOU, the VMware Community, to produce your own segments at VMworld this year.

We will have a video podcasting station set up which you can book and use to stream your session live on VMworld TV. If you have some experience in podcasting or video production, you can book a slot to fill with guests, commentary, or your own produced footage.

If you would like to use the podcasting equipment (audio or video) for your own uses outside of VMware Community TV, you can book that as well outside our broadcast hours, although capacity is limited.

In your proposal, please let us know the topics and/or guests for your show. The topic should be related to VMworld -- cloud, virtualization, or other VMware-related topics. Segments will be about 20 minutes and start on the half-hour. The podcasting station is self-serve, but will have some technical assistance standing by. Community content takes first priority in scheduling but exhbitiors with community-oriented topics are encouraged to create a proposal.

We can't guarantee that we can give you the time slot you want, but we'll try to accommodate your busy VMworld schedule.

Approximate broadcast times: Monday-Thurs 10:30-2:30.

This past week most of the VMworld event team headed to Las Vegas to look at the hotels, taste some of the food that will be served and meet with vendors. Based on this meeting we are getting even more excited for VMworld 2011 and all the special events, programs and sessions that attendees will experience.

General Sessions, Super Sessions, Labs, Solutions Exchange and most all of the Breakout Sessions will be held at The Venetian. Due to the growth of the event, the Partner program will be in the amazing Wynn hotel, across the street. Attendees will be given the opportunity to take a free shuttle to and from the hotels or enjoy a 10-minute walk and a bit of fresh air.

The food at both hotels was exquisite and many of the items served are sure to be a hit with attendees during breaks, lunch and VMworld hosted parties. Speaking of parties, final details are being worked out regarding the VMworld Party on Wednesday night and you don’t want to miss it. There are also other activities in the works to entertain and get you networking with colleagues so if you haven’t registered for VMworld 2011, don’t wait. If you have registered then refer your colleagues program and receive an Apple iPad 2. See details of the program here.

We look forward to seeing everyone in Las Vegas to learn about the next wave in virtualization and cloud computing. Register now.

While at VMworld 2010 (San Francisco), be sure to stop by the Social Media & Blogger Lounge, hosted by the VMware Social Media & Communities Team.  There will be blogger tables, lounge chairs/couches, internet/power connections and a demo pod for VMware Communities and VMware Labs.  Plus, the highlight of the lounge will be VMworld Live!, a live streaming show with video coverage each day of the conference (more details below).
