Good news and bad news...

http://www.vmworld.com/servlet/JiveServlet/showImage/38-2237-14199/mystery-band.jpg

The bad news first:  No one has guessed the band!
Well, that's actually good news for most of you

The good news: 2 attendees can still win the "meet and greet the band" prize.
And even better news:  We are allowing everyone a second guess.

That means 2 guesses per person.
Same rules apply as before and options to submit your guess. (see original blog for details)

Now, for some hints...

+ 4k shows to over 25 mil people
+ 30 mil records sold
7 top Billboard hits

Who's the band?

I know it is still a few months out, but the planning for VMworld 2010 is in full progress. We opened our call-for-papers a few weeks ago and have already received a good bunch of submissions. If you have a great session topic you would like to share with the VMworld attendees, feel free to still submit your session via the call-for-paper website.

NEW: Public Voting

This year we are introducing a new way of how we select the content. Some of the sessions will still be selected by small content committees that exist of VMware employees, customers and partners. Public voting! What does not get selected in this first round, we will put up for public voting! Meaning you will directly be able to participate in the selection process. This voting will happen in May and anyone who has a vmworld.com account (anyone can register for free) will be invited to vote.

I hope to see some really cool sessions submitted and sessions with a high education value, as like most of you, I always want to learn new things.sions submitted and sessions with a high education value, as like most of you, I always want to learn new things.

Do you have a great story  to share with other delegates? Are you using virtual machines to build a  better disaster recovery solution? Have you virtualized a critical  enterprise system? Do you offer virtual machines on-demand with  billing? Have you developed extensive automation process around the  VMware products? Tell your peers about it by submitting a proposal.

Session proposals should  provide an in-depth explanation of the technology and business  challenges you have resolved, as well as a description of your  architecture—hardware,  software and networking setup. Advice, key success factors, data points  and lessons learned while solving technical, organizational and process  challenges related to virtualization deployment are always appreciated  by your peers.

In addition to the prestige  of showcasing your solutions and the opportunity to share best  practices with other delegates, if selected to present, you will receive  a full conference pass, access to all VMworld and sessions and labs.

This year the VMworld  community will be voting on your submissions. In order for your  submission to be included in the voting process, your submission needs to be filled out completely. Any  submissions with gaps or "TBD" in any of the fields will automatically  be declined and removed from voting.
