You're completely off concerning the costs. I've gone each year to Cannes and the hotel has been reasonably priced, checking the Copenhagen rates appears I will pay several hundred dollars more for a comparable room. Maybe you only do one day but I do the entire event. It would be much cheaper for me to fly from Germany to SFO and blow the VMWare Europe event altogether. Also wouldn't Oct in Copenhagen be cold as hell (Walter - Jeff Dunham), move the event south or have dwindling support.

Hi VMworld Europe Fans :-)

I understand some of you are disappointed about the location/date change of VMworld Europe, but we did put a lot of thinking into this decision. We did research the costs for attendees, and Copenhagen will be cheaper than Cannes (flights, hotel and local expenses).

Most conferences switch location every so many years, with TSX we even switch location every event. This will ensure that each region gets the benefit from time to time to host VMworld Europe :-)

About the date change; we did this to be more in line with the US event and to be able to organize even more resources for VMworld Europe. We are working on a great plan to make VMworld 2010 not just a repeat of previous VMworld events, but an event that stays modern and offers a lot of value to our attendees. I will post more about this in a few weeks or so.

Lets see, hmmm, Cannes in February or Copenhagen in October. Hello?!!! Are you guys losing it? First of all, everything is more expensive in Copenhagen and I mean everything. Second, now we have to wait 8 more months until we get together again. Third, October is a much busier month for us and I would imagine a lot of other folks. Maybe this decision was made after a fresh coat of paint in the office and the fumes affected the decision making process. C'mon guys!!!

"This is the most stupid thing to come out of VMware for a while". Totally d'accord. Half IT of Austria was flying to Cannes because of the great event, networking and the touch&feel/labs? And mostly after the announcement in SFO, you saw there the software with the first service packs really stable. Hey guys, I will miss that and no ... I don't fly an 18 hours flight to SFO. I will "really !" miss the first sun rays at the beach of cannes giving you a breeze of the upcoming spring & summer.

I just think that VMworld 2009 sucks.. I have had my schedule for today (Monday 31, 2009) cleared. All sessions just disappeared and I could'nt schedule anything today afterwards because all sessions was filled.

Wondering if all sessions for tomorrow will disappear tomorrow morning again?

I'm not going to VMworld another time. This is fraud.
