1st day at VMworld 2008

Posted by Marko Merl Sep 16, 2008

The first session was the Lab05. It was ok, but there were no new things for me. All what we did there, I already did it at the VCP.

The second session was Hypervisors - understandig the differences. This session was also on a high level content but there were some good points in it which shows the contrast between VMware, Microsoft and one other VM software. It also told me that VMware is much cheeper when you have a middle sized datacenter.
The biggest edge is that you don't have any downtimes when you have to updating, repairing or something like that, one of the host in your ESX cluster

The third session was also a lab - Lab04. What I heared about it wasn't new for me. It was also on a high level and a lot of them I heared about the VCP. What was new was the exactly definition what the CPU Ready graph is.

The fourth session was about VI SDK applications. It wasn't possible for me to join in, because there were something wrong at the online VMworld 2008 scheduler. This session was just for prefered partners. So there was no information at the scheduler. I already made some trouble at one of the VMware registration guy ;-), but didn't help!
