Windows 7 is the latest version of Windows by Microsoft. Succeeding Windows Vista, Windows 7 is still being treated as a release candidate, although Microsoft has recently announced its unavailability. The full retail set of Windows 7 is

said to be available in October this year.

Successor of Windows Vista

Many users complain about Windows Vista's inability to optimize the computer's speed and usability.

With its relatively grandiose interface, Vista uses a great percentage of virtual memory, thus slowing down the computer's speed. Many users consider this as a flop.

Many laptops and netbooks are Windows Vista locked, meaning no other operating system (OS) can be installed. Many complain that their laptop or notebook's limited RAM, Vista still uses a big percentage of virtual memory that even writing research papers takes a lot of time.

Windows 7 Release Candidate

The first release candidate for Windows 7 came in 2008. Microsoft announced the beta version to be  tested by certain users. The retail set is said to be released in October this year.

Compatibility Issues

There seems to be a big gap between Vista and its predecessor when it comes to hardware and software compatibilities. Microsoft also assured consumers that

there will be no compatibility conflicts for Windows Vista users who are going to migrate to Windows 7.

Removed Features from Vista

The Start Menu interface of Vista is removed, as well as some notable features such as Inkball and Calendar. These features will be available in a package called Windows Live Essentials.

Better than Vista

With all the controversies and horror stories brought about by Windows Vista, Microsoft has rectified these errors in its successor, Windows 7. This OS is said to focus on performance improvements, a few that Vista lacked. Hardware and software improvements were also assured by Microsoft.
