New VMFS-3 SCSI Commands for Arrays

Posted by James E. Price III on Sep 2, 2009 10:45:00 AM

VMFS -3 (3.31) included new array command the reduces by 50% the number of command required to process SCSI Reservations. This is known as hardware accelerated lock manager. This is great news, now the real question is which array vendors support this new feature and have implemented it?  Another key question from the vendors perspective is will updates to the array firmware to support this feature require recertification?
